Two hours training next Saturday/ survey on change of training times

This is a short video of the right-foot-first, small men cut technique we looked at yesterday.

It was great to train face to face finally! Everything went well and it was great to welcome back Soon properly and also two new members, Nick from Cairns (previously from Ballarat) and Nate our one and only Zoom beginner!

In light of reaching the 28-day milestone of no new local cases of the virus we trained largely without masks but with other COVID-safe modifications to training. However if individuals wish to train with masks as some did on Saturday that is of course their right. It is likely that in future we may have new cases in the community and so we'll have to go back to a more strict mask-wearing regime during training, but for now I think we have earned the right to train mask-free without danger if we wish.

Some points for those who haven't yet been to Latrobe:

  • parking is free after hours, even though the signs all say 'permit only'. So no need to find a parking meter.
  • you can use the change rooms in the sports centre to get changed if you wish
  • a reminder, we are in the basketball stadium, not the squash courts, but in the same location as shown in the previous post.

Next Saturday we will train from 11am to 1pm. Please bring bokuto with saya if you have one (or iaito) because we will do some iai. The cost for training next week will be $10 per person.

Survey on change of training times

I want to see if changing either or both of our training times would help people get to training.

Please email me (nanseikan at gmail) and tell me your preferred two hours on a Saturday. I will look at the results and see if there is a clear preference, before then discussing with the membership.

Also, I'm interested to know whether changing Wednesday training to 6.30 to 8pm would be better in general for those who come on a Wednesday, worse or no difference. My strong feeling is to make it this earlier time, unless all the Wednesday regulars tell me that this will make it too hard to come to training.

Please email me and give me your feedback on these two questions.
