News from VKR relating to future events - COVID19

Please see this announcement from the VKR

Hi All;

Return to training

We’re beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel and hope to be back at training soon but not yet. Discussions are being held amongst VKR, senior senseis from all the arts and in consultation with medical expertise from within the kendo community.

Gradings

Sadly, you won’t be surprised to hear that the July iaido/jodo grading is cancelled. The September kendo gradings are still under consideration and a decision will be made in July at the latest.

VKCs

We are also sorry to say that the VKCs will not be going ahead this year. Hopefully clubs can make use of this breather to prepare for 2021.

First Aid training 2020

The VKR will not plan any First Aid training for 2020 until after the lockdown is ended.

Nittaidai Seminar 2021

The VKR Nittaidai seminar dates for 2021 have been set for the first weekend in March. That’s March 6th and 7th, 2021.

2020/21 Membership fees

Discussions are being had concerning annual membership fees for the 2020/21 year. At this stage it seems likely that we will still have to pay the insurance component of the annual fees. Stay tuned for the full outcome.

Support for member’s businesses

In response to impacts of the lockdown on our community, the VKR is planning on encouraging members to support VKR member’s businesses as soon as restrictions allow. If you have a business and would like a shout-out from the VKR to the VKR community for support, please send us details within 3 weeks of the date of this email.

Committee of Management (CoM) meeting

The CoM (formerly delegates) meeting that was scheduled for Sunday 24th of May has been moved to late June. The date will be determined to align with the planned Government announcement concerning social distancing restrictions in June if possible. If we are unable to meet face-to-face the meeting will be held via Google Meet. Please send any items for the agenda asap.

Stay safe, be kind and hang in there. We hope to see you all again soon.

Kind regards

Pete Mawhinney

Secretary
